I stumbled onto your blog strictly by accident. I don't know either of you nor do I know your son. But I want to tell you how brave you are, and how humbled I was after reading about your son Asher. I think he is a brave and remarkable child and I wish for him a happy, healthy future.

What an AMAZING and beautiful family. This story found it's way to me this afternoon, and I found myself reading through your entries for over two hours... I do not have children, though I have the utmost respect for them, and for parents such as Scott and Stephanie. This is an utterly heartbreaking, emotional, and personal experience that you all went through, and your choice to share it with others, who may find themselves in the same situation, is truly a gift, and will undoubtedly help MANY others... I am not particularly religious, per se', though I DO believe, STRONGLY, in the power of prayer, please know that your family, and the other families going through similar times, will always be in mine...

Congratulations, 5 years what a milestone. I am so happy for you. It looks you are on the right track. It is tough to be a parent when you have a child with cancer. I have gone through it and I do undersand. I hope that you can enjoy many more extra years.

Go guys!!!! I'm an italian nurse. I found your page while I was searching for VAC Therapy on Google. My congratulation to your child for his courage and to all of you for your faith in nurses and doctors, and for your dedication to the life of your son. God bless you all!

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm a nurse doing some research on childhood illnesses and came across your site. As nurses we don't often see outcomes for our patients more than a few months after treatment. It's so nice to see how well Asher has done. I hope the rest of the family are doing as well. Good luck with your next clinic if it's not already past.

I am sitting in a hospital room with my 2 year old son who has neuroblastoma...I was doing a search for mucusitis and came across your website. I just read a page of yours from 2006 (before my son was even born,...) and the details describe what we are going through to a T! Just wanted to let you know that your words from years ago are still helping people out there.

Hey there! I don't know if you remember me, my daughter Grace shared a room at PCH w/Asher in July of 2006. Grace had just had her eye removed due to eye cancer. I was up last night and I just thought of you guys and wanted to make sure everyone was OK. It sounds like Asher is doing really well and we are so happy for all you! Grace is doing well, too. She will be five next month! She has a little brother, Gavin and sister, Olivia (7 months)...thankfully, we did not have the genetic form of Retinoblastoma. Anyway, give Asher hugs from us!

Hello dear all!
I found Asher's site thanks to Diana's and Reginas page.
I just have to say that I truly admire you all.
When I first saw Asher in photos, in his eyes were so much wisdom, intelligence. I was and still am totally hooked.
I am very glad, that everything is okey.
I wish you all the best and most of all health. Please keep writing this diary, I am sure that here in Estonia are lots of people who will be with you in their thoughts and prayers.
So will be I.
Best wishes,

I'm so impressed with your website. My three year old daughter was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma on August 6, 2009. Fortunately, they were able to resect the entire tumor. We have gotten through three of the six chemo treatments, along with harvesting her stem cells. She will receive her stem cells in three parts - 1/3 after each of the last three chemo treatments. Anyways, it is just wonderful to read of how well Asher is doing and I'm really impressed with how much detail you have put into your website. God bless your family.
I put in my blog address that somewhat journals what we have gone through these last three months, but mostly its ramblings of a scared mama.

Thanks for stopping by Connor's site. Connor's MRI schedule is every four months, with both the head and spine being done every other time. In July he will be three years past his Stem Cell Transplant. Sounds like things are going well for Asher. How often does he have his MRI's? Keep up the good work, Asher. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello Scott, Steph and Kids!
I stumbled across your blog while looking for a scrapbooking layout and decided to read a bit. It took me an hour to read through the tears! Thank you for sharing your highs and lows with others.....reading your words is a humbling experience.

Asher looks so good! I am glad summer is here as well - I like having everybody home even though it gets pretty crazy. Nice that you have a pool. Ryan and Addie have been taking swimming lessons all year and are doing really well - I am so proud of them. Ryan just asked when his next MRI was - he has never done that before - it is June 1st - right around the corner. I asked him if he was thinking about it - he said yeah - just a little - then on to the next topic - he didn't linger there. I always wonder what he is thinking as well - i love that for the most part he is still "innocent" about it all - I know that won't be forever. I have someone cut Ryan's hair and how she does it - somehow she layers it so that it pretty much always covers his scar - lets the top part grow out a little longer as well - it looks good and only when he first gets up in the morning or when it gets wet can you tell. Hope you all have a great summer - we should call and talk sometime - i'd love to just talk. MRI's still give me a huge knot in my stomach - think that'll ever go away? You all take care - hope everyone is feeling better!

Hey Asher,
You seem like one cool guy. I'm new at the brain cancer thing, but you've been though a lot. I was cycling across the United States when I started having seizures, little did I know I had bigger problems. I'll finish that ride later, but I just wanted you to know that I said a real good prayer for you to continue to beat this thing.

We will be praying for Asher to have a clear MRI. My name is Stephanie and my daughter Natalie and I found Asher's sight some time ago. We have followed since mid summer. Hopeful and holding our breathe with each fever, cough, you see you bring us hope. My grandson Trenton had a resection of a brain tumor in June.... Medulloblastoma same as Asher. Trenton went through radiation and now chemo.I pray that one day there will be a cure, that cancer and kids shouldn't be in the same sentence. That's all we have Hope and prayer.

Ryan's middle name is William - I wanted it to be his first name and call him Will - but hubby liked Ryan. A few days ago he said "what about Will?" - i'm like - "you can't name that for a first name once you've given it to your child for a middle name!! Crazy
. Gotta run - we are having a clean up party -my husband is so much better at organizing these than me - he sets the timer and gets everybody moving - so better go do my stuff too

Hi Steph!! I've been keeping myself posted on Asher and I thought I had signed the Guestbook but I guess not !
WOWO! What an emotional couple of weeks but who would blame you! Jazz just started school this past week and that was a big one for me, I cant imagine what it must meann and feel for you- especially with Asher growing up and dealing with the affects of a bt and treatments.. but its tremendous that he's not really far behind despite All that he and his brain have gone through- that to me says quite a lot. Hopefully things will get easier for you- it sounds like it is from just reading the journal entries..
With school comes many many bugs and i have two sanitizers- one in the car and right after we open the house door to hopefully kill off some of those germs. I hope the bug that Asher has is completely out of his body and that next week will be easier for you both!
Big Hugs!!

Hi Steph -- I just read your latest entry and felt the need to write to you.
When Paul had to go back to school, I didn't want him to go. I picked him up every day after school and used every opportunity I could to volunteer at schoool so I could be closer to him. Even now, I look forward to summer vacation -- I love having Paul (and the other kids) home with me. But, it's because of Paul's cancer that I really enjoy having them home. Plus, it's your first one headed off to Kindergarten -- and he's not just any kid -- he's Asher who has had to experience so much more than any other 5 year old in his school. It isn't easy.. I dread the thought of Paul going back to school...
And, for what it's worth, I think you'll both be fine. Asher is a bright boy and he will learn -- that's what Kindergarten is all about!! If he already knew everything, he'd be bored. He's such a cute kid! He'll melt his teacher's heart
Love,
Margo

Hi Steph:
Just wanted you to know I still check in frequently, and we still pray for all of you every day. The school thing is scary...even with a child that hasn't had any issues. I understand your fears about sending him. I also understand the scary parts of having a child that may need some extra help in school. Cade already has an IEP and I worry about what that will mean for him later. Will he ever be "normal" and caught up? It's difficult. Hugs! You're such a great mom and doing the best that anyone can for your sweet boy!

You are strong people! Great to see that everything is looking up for you and Asher has been doing well. Your an inspiration to lots of people, and as his parents you are a Very Dedicated, and Strong Foundation for his recovery. Hoping to hear great news, with the MRI. I have miked feelings about the neuro/psych test, how accurate they are depends on how interested the child is in what they are doing. It would be better if they came to the house and observed them in their own surroundings. Well I can't wait to hear the good news, congratulations on the big 2 year mark. Have you heard of the International Symposium on Pediatric Neuro-oncology conference in Chicago? There is a family day full of stuff, July 2nd. Just google ISPNO and it will give you the information, we are going and so are a few of our rhabdoid families. Try and get a good night sleep , hope Asher enjoys his Popsicle.
